Flibbix Game Board Designs

Rectangle Layout

Here's a basic rectangular game board layout.

Letter "A" Layout

A game board shaped like your initial? Sure! Here's an "A." You could do other letters if you get creative. It's okay if you have a few extra tiles you don't end up using in your game board design.

Straight & Spiral Layout

Here's a layout that starts out straight and then ends in a spiral. You could start out in a spiral and end with a straight section at the end, instead.

Zig Zag

This layout zig zags back and forth. You can make the zigs or zags bigger or smaller if you want.

The Transporter

Oh, no! We broke the game in half! This design was created by Garrett (8 years old). Place a Jump to Red space tile (or Jump to Green) and after that have a break, or gap, in the game board. At the beginning of the second part of your game board, put your Red Space tile.

Make a "Custom Game Rule" which says you need an exact roll to get to Red Space (roll a two, for example) from the Jump to Red tile. This way, people get stuck at the Jump to Red Space tile, which can make the game kinda crazy and fun as everyone hopes they get the "right" roll to get to the 2nd part of the game.

In order to not cause problems when going backwards from Red Space to Jump to Red Space (on a Roll Reversal, Move Back 5, Swap & Flip Start & Finish, etc.), you can just pretend that there's no break in the path when going backwards.

All Ahead Full

Trying to set a record for the longest board game? Here's where you should start. This layout makes the game board about as long as possible. This game's going to be too big for most tables, so you'll probably want to start setting it up on the floor. Really want to get crazy? If you have two Flibbix sets you can hook them together and probably end up having a game that's big enough to make it from room to room!

The Repeater

The repeater is a fun and really different design. Use only a quarter to half of your Flibbix tiles when making your game board and have the Finish tile run right up to the Start Tile.

Choose "Exact roll required on Finish" on your rule sheet. When you get to Finish, you have to get an exact roll to win, if not, you keep going around the game board loop until someone lands on Finish.

You can also make a Custom Game Rule that an exact roll is only required the first time you hit Finish (if your game is taking forever to finish). This one works better with more players. This design was submitted by Dr. Gordon in California.

The Extender

Like the Repeater layout, don't use all of the Flibbix tiles when building your game board. Keep the extra tiles handy since you'll use them later.

Make a custom rule that when a player rolls a special number (such as 1, or an odd number), or lands on a specific type of tile (Custom Tile or Draw Card, for example), they get to add a tile to the game board. Now, as you're playing your game, you get to add tiles and your game board changes. You have to add tiles after you move.

You can choose to add tiles in the order they're drawn, or you can pick through and choose one. Choose which method you prefer before you begin playing and make sure everyone agrees before you start your game. The same rules apply as on Tile Flip/Tile Swap: no moving tiles that are occupied. This design was submitted by the Stokes family in Washington.
