Here's a great basic set of rules. Click on the rule sheet picture and it will open up a new window with a larger image. Notice that you can choose more than one option in the "Landing on another player..." section.

Other Rule Ideas & Notes

Roll 1 = Draw 1

One of our favorite "Custom Game Rule" ideas is to draw one card, and move one space, when you roll a 1. This lets you play more cards during the game—which is really fun. Now you aren't just hoping to roll a 6! Simply write the custom rule, such as "Roll 1 = Draw 1" on the "Custom Game Rule" blank of your Make your own Rules sheet. The Basic Rule Sheet Example above is a good example.

Another option is to draw as many cards as you roll on your turn (such as Roll 5 = Draw 5, and Roll 3 = Draw 3). This is if you want to go really crazy and play a lot of cards during your game. Playing six cards a turn might not work too well, but it might be worth trying. That's the fun of making your own game with Flibbix!

Draw & Place a Tile Custom Game Rule

Another of our favorite rule ideas: Build your game board so that you have extra breathing room to expand it later (in other words, try a layout like Zig Zag or All Ahead Full). But, don't use all of your tiles when you're building your game board. Leave some aside. For your rule sheet's Custom Tile and Custom Card action, write "Draw and place a tile" (or more than one tile). Now, when you land on Custom Tile or draw a Custom Card, you can place a new tile anywhere you want, anywhere in the game board!

Alternate Method: Instead of a Custom Tile or Custom Card action, set up a Custom Game Rule on your rule sheet so that when you roll a 1, you get to add one tile anywhere on the board that you want after you move one space.

Keep it on the table

Almost every family has a super-energetic dice roller. You know, the person who usually rolls the die off the game board, off the table, and somewhere across the room? Well, one family (who just happens to have a super-energetic dice roller) submitted a custom rule. It helps them to help discourage such crazy acts of well, craziness. They set up Custom Game Rule which says you lose a turn if you roll the die onto the floor. Ouch!

Now that changes the game

Custom Game Rules are designed to change how your game plays. They often have you draw cards, add tiles, etc. but Custom Game Rules can be almost anything. Social rules can be really fun, in fact. One group of gradeschoolers came up with this custom rule: "Say 'like' during the game, and you have to go back one space." Another group—of tween and teen-aged girls—made up this custom rule "No texting during the game. If you text, you lose a turn." We especially thought the texting rule was fun. It's hard to break away from distractions (especially the cell phone), but it's important to have distraction-free together time every once in a while. Turns out, it made their game that much more fun since they could concentrate on it. (Thanks to Hannah and Jordan in Santa Barbara for the rule).

Land on another player: more options

On your Make your own rules sheet, you can choose what happens when you land on another player's space during the game. You can choose to have nothing happen, "Zap" them back a few spaces, or move yourself ahead. But did you know that you can choose more than one option? To really mix things up, you can choose to "Zap" the other player back when you land on their space and move yourself ahead when you land on their space. Of course, this works if they land on you, too. You can see this on the Wacky Rule Sheet Example above.
